The federal government’s wind energy programs have created jobs, the only problem is each of the 70,000 jobs created cost $375,000 each and are paid for with your tax dollars. Additionally Section 1603 of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act enacted under President Obama’s stimulus program gives wind energy companies a 30% investment credit for wind projects through 2013.
This program is a drain on taxpayer money and a big win for wind energy companies. We are actually paying more for electricity per kilowatt-hour under the Presidents green wind energy program then it cost for electricity from power plants. This information comes at a time when supporters, mostly wind power companies are fighting to have the Production Tax Credit (PTC) renewed that will expire on January 1, 2013.
Wind industry professionals who will profit from the governments wind energy programs, many who manufacture turbines paid for by taxpayer money and employee government subsidized workers received over $14 billion in 2011. If the Production Tax Credit is allowed to expire these same companies will see a huge loss in federal government funds. This scam that has been portrayed as good for the environment is actually lining the pockets of energy companies when it is supposed to be providing us with cheap clean energy.
Now we all remember the Solyndra solar energy scandal that cost taxpayers $500 million well you ain’t seen nothing yet. As mentioned each job created in wind energy cost you the taxpayer $375,000. The production of turbines which require hundreds of man hours to maintain also tend to require frequent parts replacements including turbine blades, electrical components, replacement motors and a host of other parts supplied by the same energy companies recieving government funds for operations. The cost is in the billions per year.
The Obama administration and environmental groups have pushed for wind energy and oppose cheap oil. They have protested drilling on federal lands and are against using clean natural gas as an alternative due to what they say will have a negative impact on the land and our water supply. The truth is green energy is not cheaper then traditional methods. The cost is three times that of oil, coal and natural gas and drilling rarely results in accidents that effect the environment. Green energy is profitable if you are in the energy business and costly if you are a taxpayer.
